OUR STORY
Living the Golden Life
At Promised Love Golden Retrievers, our purpose is simple and unwavering: to raise dogs who enrich lives, strengthen families, and bring lasting joy. We believe the kindred soul and spirit of promised love is never broken. What dogs give to us so freely, we are called to give back—through stewardship, care, and lifelong responsibility.
Dogs have shaped my life in ways that words can barely express. From the earliest days, their loyalty, empathy, and quiet understanding have been my greatest teachers. I believe God has blessed me with the ability to cherish, learn from, and share the joy of dogs with others. That calling is the heart of Promised Love.
Where It Began
My love for Golden Retrievers began in 1997 with our first, Sampson. From the moment I could say the word “dog,” I had one by my side. In 2010, we faced the heartbreaking loss of four of our beloved dogs—Shasta, Sampson, Chloe, and Skippy—all to old age. That season of grief forced me to reflect deeply on what these lives had meant to our family and what I wanted to carry forward.
After a year of contemplation, one truth remained clear: the Golden Retriever. Sampson had been more than a dog—he was our loyal companion for thirteen years, a steady presence, and a true gentleman. He wasn’t just part of our home; he was part of who we were. From that love and loss, Promised Love was born.
This marked the beginning of a dream. Puppies had always been my passion, and though I had never pursued breeding before, I knew I wanted to share this journey with others—responsibly, intentionally, and with heart.
What Makes Promised Love Different
Our program is built on health, temperament, and meaningful relationships. We do not raise puppies simply to place them. We raise them to become emotionally sound, physically healthy, and deeply connected companions—whether their future is as a family dog, therapy partner, service animal, or working companion.
From the very beginning, our puppies are introduced to a world rich in experience: movement, sound, texture, scent, and visual stimulation. But we go beyond exposure. We teach our puppies how to regulate, relax, and engage their natural senses—especially their sense of smell. Calm confidence is just as vital as physical exercise.
This foundation begins as early as three weeks of age and continues until each puppy joins their family. Our goal is not simply well-behaved dogs, but emotionally resilient, confident, and adaptable companions prepared for a wide range of environments and roles—from family homes to therapy, service work, search and rescue, agility, and beyond.
A Family Commitment
My husband and I, alongside our beloved Golden Retrievers, have built a home where dogs are not just raised—they are lived with, loved, and understood. Our family is closely involved in every stage of our program, ensuring each puppy receives the attention, socialization, and care they deserve.
Whether it’s walking together, relaxing on the couch, training, or raising litters, these dogs are woven into every part of our lives. They are not projects. They are family.
Responsibility Without Expiration
We are deeply committed to you, your puppy, and your future together. Every puppy raised in our home is a life we stand behind—physically, emotionally, and ethically.
We believe in thoughtful placement, not convenience. In guidance, not transactions. In presence, not distance. If a family can no longer keep one of our dogs, that dog will always have a home with us. This is not an exception to our philosophy—it is the foundation of it.
Because for us, ethical breeding is not about producing puppies.
It is about stewardship.
It is about accountability.
It is about lifelong advocacy.
For Families Who Share These Values
Promised Love is not for everyone—and that is by design.
We work with families who understand that a dog is a lifetime commitment, who value integrity over convenience, and who seek partnership rather than simply a puppy. When you join the Promised Love family, you are not just welcoming a dog into your home—you are entering a relationship built on trust, purpose, and shared responsibility.
Our Promise
At Promised Love, every dog is a promise.
A promise of care that does not end when circumstances change.
A promise of advocacy, stability, and protection for life.
A promise that when we bring a life into this world, we will never walk away.
This is not just what we do.
It is who we are.
